Setup WiFi on the Netgear WNR1000v3 Genie

We begin this wireless setup guide on the Home page of the Netgear WNR1000v3 Genie router. Start out by clicking the tab labeled ADVANCED near the top of the page. Then, in the left hand sidebar, click Setup and then Wireless Setup below that.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear WNR1000v3 Genie

Start by setting a Name (SSID). This can be anything you like, however we highly recommend avoiding any personal information. For more on this subject, take a look at our Wireless Names Guide.

Lastly, you'll need to set a Passphrase. A strong passphrase contains no personal information and is 14-20 character in length. For more helpful tips like these, see our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
