Setup WiFi on the Trendnet TEW-452BRP

The Trendnet TEW-452BRP router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

Login To The Trendnet TEW-452BRP

We begin this wireless setup guide on the Home of the TRENDnet TEW-452BRPv5 router. From here, click the option marked Wireless on the left hand side of the page. Then Basic beneath that.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Trendnet TEW-452BRP

You are now on the Wireless Basic page. First, make sure your Wireless is Enabled.

Next, you need to change your SSID. This is your network name and should be unique. This can be anything you like but it's a good idea to avoid personal information if possible. Learn all about the SSID in this guide.

If you need to change your Channel go ahead and use the available drop down list to pick channel 1,6, or 11. Learn why in this WiFi Channels Guide.

Save your changes by clicking the Apply button near the bottom of the page.

Now click Security under Wireless.

On this new page, use the drop down list titled Authentication Type to choose the type of security you want to use. We recommend picking WPA2 for maximum security. To learn more, check out this WPA2 guide.

Set the Cipher type to AES for the best results.

Now you need to enter a strong password for your internet. Go ahead and do so in the box labeled Passphrase. This should contain at least 14 to 20 characters. If you need help take a look at this guide.

Don't forget to re-type your new password in the box titled Confirmed Passphrase. Then click Apply to save your changes.

Your network is now more secure, congratulations!

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
