The ZTE ZXHN H108L router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
To get started configuring the ZTE ZXHN H108L WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.
To login to the ZTE ZXHN H108L, follow our ZTE ZXHN H108L Login Guide.
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
We begin this wireless setup guide on the Status page of the ZTE ZXHN H108L router. Start off by clicking Interface Setup at the top of the page, and then Wireless below that.
This takes you to the page you see here.
Start by making sure that the Channel is set to either 1, 6, or 11. Why is this important? Read our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.
Now, beneath the Multiple SSIDs Settings heading, make sure that the Use WPS option is set to No. To find out why this is bad, see our What is WPS Guide.
This brings up a new section.
Enter your desired SSID into the given box. This will be your network name and can be anything you like. However, we recommend avoiding any kind of personal information. To learn more, take a look at our Wireless Names Guide.
Following that, open the drop down list marked Authentication Type and choose WPA2 only. If this is not an option, we strongly suggest that you update your firmware. Why? Read our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.
Finally you'll need to set a Password. This may also be called Passphrase or Pre-Shared Key. We know a strong password can be difficult to think up on your own, so we've created a guide to help you out.
Congratulations! You're done. Just be sure to SAVE your changes before leaving the page.
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
