This guide shows you how to reset your ZyXEL Prestige 960 router. A router reset is very different than a router reboot. Rebooting a router is simply turning it off and back on again. This is very different from a reset, which erases a router completely and returns it to factory default settings.
Warning: Proceed with caution; resetting your router can be a major headache. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's login and password are reset to factory defaults.
- All WiFi information such as network name, password, and authentication method are erased.
- Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, or port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. You should be sure that you have tried to at least recover your router password using our Router Password Finder before resorting to a router reset.

Recover Password in ZyXEL Prestige 960

If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.
Reset the ZyXEL Prestige 960
Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. A typical reset button looks like this:
Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. You may need a paper clip to push the reset button.
Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. You should notice that the blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router changes after a few seconds. It is harmless to hold the reset button too long.
Don't forget, this step will totally reset your ZyXEL Prestige 960 router back to factory settings.

Login to the ZyXEL Prestige 960

Change Your Password

Tip: Write your new password down on a note and tape it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
