This guide talks about how to reset the Belkin F5D8633-4v1 router. The words reboot and reset are confusing because they are used interchangeably. The word reboot means to cycle the power to the device. This is normally done by turning it off and back on again. Resetting a device will take all the settings and return them to how they straight out of the factory.

Warning: Be careful, resetting the router can cause problems if you don't know what settings change. Create a list of the settings you know will change. Make sure the following is included in your list.

  • The router's interface username and password.
  • The WiFi SSID, password, and security method.
  • The ISP username and password if you have DSL. You need to call your ISP for this information.
  • Any other changes like port forwards or IP address changes are erased.

Since this button is so small and recessed you need to obtain an unwound paperclip or pin to press and hold down this button for about 10 seconds. If you happen to just press and release the button you are only rebooting the device not resetting it.

Remember this erases every setting you have ever changed in this router. It is recommended that you try other troubleshooting methods before a reset is considered.
