Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F7D8301 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Login To The Belkin F7D8301

Forward a Port on the Belkin F7D8301 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F7D8301

Once you have logged into the Belkin F7D8301v1 you are taken to the Status page. On the left find and click the choice labeled Virtual Servers.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F7D8301

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now on a page like the one you see above. In the first empty row of boxes, put a check in the Enable box.

In the Description box enter the name of the program or something similar that helps you to remember why you forwarded these ports, this box is for your informational purposes.

If you are forwarding a range of ports enter the range in the boxes labeled Inbound port and Private port. You need to enter them like 22-26, lowest number, dash, highest number. If you are forwarding only one port, enter this one port number into the Inbound port and Private port.

The next box is Type. Use the drop down menu that has been provided to select the type of protocol you are going to use when forwarding these ports.

Under the heading of Private IP address, enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to. For example if you are forwarding a range of ports to run a program on computer A, use computer A's IP address.

Once you have followed all these steps, click the Add button and the Apply Changes button. These can both be found near the top of the page.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F7D8301 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
