How to Reset the Belkin F5D8235-4

In this guide I will show you how to reset the Belkin F5D8235-4v2 router back to it's original factory defaults. There is confusion between the terms reset and reboot. Rebooting a router is simply restarting it in order to cycle the power to the device. Resetting a router is taking all the settings and returning them to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Every setting is potentially changed. Problems occur after a reset if you don't know what settings have been changed. We have created a partial list of items that are changed:

  • The router's user interface username and password.
  • The WiFi SSID, password, and security method.
  • The ISP username and password if you happen to use DSL. Call your ISP for this information.
  • Any other settings you have changed since you got the router. This could be anything from a port forward to an IP address change.

After you decide to reset this router you need to find it's reset button. Typically this button is a tiny, recessed button on the back panel of the device. We have found it for you and circled it's location in red. See the image below.

Take the end of a pin or other small object to depress and hold the reset button for about 10 seconds. If you happen to just click the reset button you will simply reboot it instead of resetting it.
