Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F5D8236-4 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Login To The Belkin F5D8236-4

Forward a Port on the Belkin F5D8236-4 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F5D8236-4

Now that you have finished logging into the Belkin F5D8236-4v3 you are going to be taken to the Status page. In the left side bar, choose the link labeled Virtual Servers, just under Firewall.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F5D8236-4

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

First, place a check in the box labeled Enable.

Second, use the Description box to enter the name of the program or something that will help you remember why you are forwarding these ports.

Next, is the Inbound port and the Private port. If you are forwarding a single port, enter that number in both boxes under Inbound port and both boxes under Private port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the left box of both Inbound port and Private port. Enter the highest number of the range into the right box of both Inbound port and Private port.

The middle box is called Type. Use the drop down menu to select the type of protocol you want to use when forwarding these ports.

Under the heading of Private IP address, enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to. For example if you are forwarding a port to help run a program on your computer, then use that computer's IP address.

Finally, click Add near the top of the page, and also Apply Changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F5D8236-4 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
