How to Reset the Dlink AirPlus DI-614+

On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Dlink DI-614+ router. This is not the same thing as a reboot which is simply cycling the power to the device. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return every one of them back to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting a router is a big step in trying to solve a problem. Our recommendation is to make a list of all the settings you have ever changed. Consider the following:

  • The main username and password used to login to the router's interface are reverted back to the factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are also returned to how they were straight out of the factory.
  • If you use a DSL connection you probably need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your local Internet Service Provider for the details.
  • Have you made any other changes to your router? Write these down so you can reconfigure them later.

Reset the Dlink AirPlus DI-614+

The first step in this reset is know where the reset button is located. On this Dlink model you can find it on the back panel. See the image below.

Take an unfolded paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds to begin the reset process. Make sure you hold this button down for the entire amount of time. If you don't you end up simply rebooting the router instead of resetting it.

Remember this reset erases every single setting you have ever changed on the router. If you want to try and avoid this you need to exhaust other troubleshooting methods first.

Login to the Dlink AirPlus DI-614+

Once you've reset the Dlink DI-614+ router you'll need to log into it. This is done by using the default username and password. Find these in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

After logging in we recommend setting a new password. This can be anything you want it to be, however remember that a strong password contains no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.

Finally let's take a look at the WiFi settings. These include the SSID, the Internet password, and the encryption type. We suggest using the encryption of WPA2 with a good strong Internet password.
