On this page I will show you how to reset the Dlink DI-614+v2 router back to it's original factory default settings. Before I do that however I need to explain the difference between resetting a router and rebooting a router. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the device. To do this manually you need to unplug the power to the device for about 30 seconds before plugging the power back in. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting this router can cause problems if you don't know what settings will be changed and what ones are not. We recommend making a list of all the settings you have changed in the past. Consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password used to login to the router interface are restored to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are also reverted to factory defaults.
  • If you use a DSL connection you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your ISP for the details.
  • Have you made any other changes? These need to be written down so you can reconfigure them after the reset is complete.

Take a paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. When you release the button the reset process begins which could take several minutes to complete.

Warning: If you don't hold this button down for long enough you end up only rebooting the unit instead of the desired reset.

Remember this erases every single setting you have ever changed on the device. If you want to try and avoid this we strongly recommend trying other methods of troubleshooting first.

Login to the Dlink AirPlus DI-614+

Now that you've reset the Dlink DI-614+v2 router you should log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Don't know where to find these? Not to worry. We have them waiting for you in our Login Guide.

Tip: Defaults not working for you? Don't panic. It may be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Once you've logged into your router you should set a new password for it. Keep in mind that this password will only protect your router settings, not your wireless network. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: To keep from losing your new password try writing it on a note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
