Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink DI-604 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Dlink DI-604

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Dlink DI-604 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Dlink DI-604 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Dlink DI-604

Beginning on the Home page of the Dlink DI-604 router, click the choice at the top of the page labeled Advanced. Then, on the left, choose Virtual Server.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Dlink DI-604

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You should now be on a page similar to the one you see here.

  1. Tick the radio dot next to Enabled.
  2. Enter the name of the program you are forwarding this port to in the Name box.
  3. Key-in the LAN IP address of the computer you are forwarding this port to in the Private IP box.
  4. Use the Protocol Type drop down menu to select the type of protocol you need to use while forwarding this port.
  5. Enter the port number you wish to forward in the Private Port box, and enter it again in the Private Port box.
  6. Choose the radio button of Always next to Schedule.
  7. Select the green Apply button.

That's it, congratulations!

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Dlink DI-604 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
