In this guide we will show you how to reset the Belkin F5D7234-4v5 router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot. Rebooting a router is simply cycling it's power by turning it off and back on again. Resetting is reverting all settings back to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Resetting this router can cause problems for you if you don't know what settings change. I recommend creating a list of settings you know will change. In this list don't forget:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The WiFi information such as the SSID, password, and security method.
  • The ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password if you have DSL.
  • Any other settings such as port forwards are erased.

Reset the Belkin F5D7234-4

To reset this router start by finding the tiny reset button. The reset button is normally found on the back panel or side panel of the router. We have circled it's location for you in the image below.

Due to the small size of the factory reset button you may need to find a sharp object such as a pin or unwound paperclip to press and hold down the reset button for about 10 seconds.

This is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed on this router. It is recommended that you exhaust other troubleshooting methods before considering a reset.

Login to the Belkin F5D7234-4

After this reset you need to login using the factory default username and password. These can be found in your user manual or maybe on the device itself. We have found this information out for you and included it in our Belkin F5D7234-4v5 Login Guide.

Change Your Password

Now it's important to change this default password to something you come up with. If you need extra help with creating a password check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.

Tip: Once you have created a new password you need to write it down on a piece of paper and place it somewhere safe. If your router is in a secure location it's okay to attach this paper to the bottom of your router.
