We are only going to focus on four of the settings on this page.

  1. Wireless Network Name (SSID): This is the name you give your network. This can be fun, there are lots of ways to express yourself here. We do recommend avoiding personal information. Check out fun ideas on our Change your Wireless Name page.
  2. Channel: This is the channel you transmit your data on. We recommend using Auto, 1, 6, or 11. Find out why in our WiFi Channels guide.
  3. Security Mode: Here you pick your security. For the strongest we recommend using WPA2-PSK (AES). Learn what this means and your other options on our WEP vs. WPA page.
  4. Pre-Shared Key: Finally, create a strong password for your wireless connection. This should be at least 8 to 10 characters long with capital and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols. Learn creative ways to do this on our Creating a Strong Password guide.

When you are finished, click the Apply button to save your changes before continuing.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
