In this guide we will show you how to reset the Belkin F9K1002v5 router back to it's original factory defaults.

Do you know the difference between resetting a router and rebooting a router? These two terms are often times confused. To reboot means to cycle the power to the device or turn it off and back on again. This does solve some problems you might be having with your router. To reset a router is different. It will take all the settings and return them back to how they were from the factory.

Warning: A reset could cause problems for you if you haven't considered the all the possible consequences. Please consider:

  • That the router's interface username and password are returned to factory defaults.
  • That the Internet name and password are returned to factory defaults.
  • If you have a DSL connection you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your ISP for this information.
  • Any other settings you have changed in the past need to be reconfigured. This could include port forwards or IP addresses, etc.

Reset the Belkin F9K1002

Before you begin resetting the Belkin F9K1002v5 router you should find the tiny reset button. Typically it is found on the back panel or side panel of the device. We have circled it's location in the image below.

Due to the small size of the reset button you need to use a small sharp object such as a sharpened pencil or pin to press and hold down the button for about 10 seconds. If you happen to just press and release the reset button you will only be rebooting the router instead of resetting it. This may be where a lot of the confusion between the two terms comes from.

Please be aware that all your settings are erased and returned to how they were from the factory. It is a good idea to try other methods of fixing your problem before resetting.
