How to Reset the Belkin F9K1102

In this guide we will talk about how to reset the Belkin F9K1102v1 router to factory settings.

First you need to know the difference between a router reset and a router reboot. To reboot a router is to cycle it's power by turning it off and back on again. This is done to solve some minor problems you may be having. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Resetting a router can cause more problems for you if you are unaware of what changes. Consider the following:

  • The router's main username and password are returned to original factory settings.
  • The Internet name and password are returned to factory settings.
  • If you have DSL you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. Call your ISP for more info. on this topic.
  • Any other settings such as port forwards or IP address changes are erased.

The first step in any reset is to find the reset button. This is typically a very small, recessed button found on the back panel or side panel of the device. We have found the location for you and circled it in red in the image below.

Take the tip of a sharpened pencil or pen to press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds. Less than that and you only reboot the router instead of reset it.

Tip: If you keep your router in a fairly secure location, like your home, it's alright to write this password down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router for future reference.
