Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F9K1102 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Belkin F9K1102

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Belkin F9K1102 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Belkin F9K1102 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F9K1102

Once you have finished logging into the Belkin F9K1102v2 you are placed on the Status page. The first step to forwarding a port is click the choice in the left side bar labeled Virtual Servers, this is under the heading of Firewall.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F9K1102

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You should now be on a page like the one you see here. Place a check mark in the box labeled Enable.

Next is the Description. Type in the name of the program in this box. It isn't really important what you enter in this box, but we encourage you to enter something that will help you to remember why you forwarded this port.

If you are forwarding a single port, enter that number in both of the boxes labeled Inbound port. Enter this same number in both boxes under the heading of Private port also. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number in the range in the left hand box of Inbound port and again in the left box of Private port. Enter the highest number of the range in the right box of both Inbound port and Private port.

The next box to the right is the drop down menu labeled Type. From this menu pick the type of protocol you want to use when forwarding your ports.

Under the heading of Private IP address, type in the IP address that you are forwarding these ports to. If you are forwarding a port to run a program on computer A, enter computer A's IP address here.

The only thing left to do is click the button at the top of the page labeled Apply Changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F9K1102 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
