On this page, find the SSID. This is the name you give your wireless network so that you can identify it later on. Don't use personal information here. Read more about the SSID in this guide, Wireless Names.

Next is the Channel. This drop down menu has a list of available channels. There are only three that don't overlap one another. Use channel 1,6, and 11. To learn why you should only be using one of these channels, read our guide titled WiFi Channels.

Under that is the Security. Choose the option of WPA-PSK. An even better option would be WPA2-PSK, which you could get if you update your firmware. Take a look at our WEP vs. WPA Guide for more information on the differences in the security modes.

Now enter the Passphrase you want associated with your wireless network. This password should be a strong one of at least 20 characters. To learn more about strong and memorable passwords, read our guide titled Choosing a Strong Password.

Go ahead and enter the password again in the Confirmed Passphrase box.

Finally, click the green Apply button when you are done.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
