Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink AirPlus DI-624 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

You are now on the correct page to forward a port. This router only allows for single port forwards, so if you need to forward multiple ports, you need to configure a new virtual server for each of them.

  • Place a dot in the radio button of Enabled.
  • In the Name box, it doesn't really matter what you enter here, but we recommend entering the program name here.
  • The Private IP is next. Enter the specific computer's IP address that you are forwarding this port to. If you are unsure of the computer's IP address, clicking the link of What is my IP Address takes you to our guide on how to find your computer's internal IP address.
  • In the Protocol Type drop down menu, select the type of protocol you want to use to forward the port.
  • Enter the port number in the Private Port box, and again in the Public Port box.
  • Select the Always radio button for the Schedule.
