This should take you to the Basic Wireless Settings page like the one you see above.

Set the Wireless Network Mode to Mixed.

The next setting is titled Wireless Network Name (SSID). This is the name you create in order to identify your network. While it doesn't really matter what you enter here we recommend avoiding personal information. Learn more about this in our Wireless Name Guide.

Below that is the Wireless Channel. For the least amount of interference we recommend that everyone use either channel 1,6, or 11. Learn why in our WiFi Channels Guide.

Don't use the SecureEasySetup or SES. SES is the same as WPS and is insecure. Read our What is WPS Guide for more info on the topic.

When you are finished, click the Save Settings button. Then go back to the top of the page and click Wireless Security.

WPA Shared Key is next. This is the password you use to access your network. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters with a mix of numbers, symbols, and letters. Check out our other tips in our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

That's it, just click the Save Settings button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
