Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F6D4230-4 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Login To The Belkin F6D4230-4

Forward a Port on the Belkin F6D4230-4 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F6D4230-4

First, after you have logged into the Belkin F6D4230-4v2 you are placed on the Status page. Find the choice on the left side of the page labeled Virtual Servers, this is under the heading of Firewall.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F6D4230-4

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now redirected to the page labeled Firewall>Virtual Servers. In the first row of boxes that are empty, place a check mark in the box labeled Enable.

Then next to that is the Description box. It is not critical what you put in this box, this for your information purposes. Enter the name of the program here or something else that is going to help you remember why you are forwarding these ports.

If you are forwarding a single port, enter that port number in the box labeled Inbound port, and again in the box labeled Private port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter that range in the boxes Inbound port and Private port. When you enter the range it should be with the lowest number first, highest number last, separated by a dash; for example 24-36.

Now for the Type drop down menu. Use this drop down menu to choose the type of protocol you are going to use when forwarding your ports.

In the Private IP address enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to, if you are forwarding ports for a computer program, then use that computer's IP address in this box.

After you have completed all the steps above, click Add and Apply Changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F6D4230-4 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
