Before we discuss how to reset the Belkin F6D4230-4-v3 router let's define two terms that are often confused. The first term is Reboot. To reboot a router means to turn it off for about 30 seconds then turn it back on again. This is to cycle the power and it will solve some minor problems. The other term is Reset. To reset a router is to take all the settings and revert them completely back to how they were from the factory.

Warning: This is a big step, be careful and know what settings will be changed. It might be helpful to write down all the settings you know about before you begin. We will start that list for you:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The Internet name and password.
  • The ISP username and password, if you use DSL. Call your ISP or Internet Service Provider for this info.
  • All settings you have changed in the past. This could include port-forwards or IP address changes.
