Dlink DIR-615 Port Forwarding Instructions

This page will show you how to setup a port forward on the Dlink DIR-615 router.

Port forwarding the Dlink DIR-615 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Forward a Port on the Dlink DIR-615 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Dlink DIR-615

You start on the INTERNET CONNECTION page of the Dlink DIR-615v2 Router. To forward a port, click the option at the top of the page labeled ADVANCED. Then, look to the left, click the link titled PORT FORWARDING.

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now on the correct page to make a port forwarding rule.

First, place a check in the small box on the left of an empty row of boxes. This check enables the rule you are about to create.

Moving to the right, place your cursor in the box labeled Name. It doesn't really matter what you enter here, but we suggest entering the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for.

Beneath that, enter the LAN IP address of the computer you are forwarding these ports to. If you are unsure of how to find your computer's IP address, the guide of What is my IP Address takes you through the steps of finding your computer's internal IP address.

Now, skip over to the heading of Ports to Open. Enter the ports you plan on forwarding in the TCP box, and again in the UDP box. You can enter them several different ways, either as a list, 50,92,23, a range, 1000-5000, or even a combination of both, 22,25,80-100.

The Schedule should be set to Always.

Set the Inbound Filter to Allow All.

Click the option at the top of the page labeled Save Settings.

You did it, congratulations!

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Dlink DIR-615 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
